6 6 The Canadian Automotive Repair and Service Council – Where people, training and technology meet Industry Overview  Approximately 18 million vehicles on Canadian roads  Retail size of aftermarket estimated at over $15.6 billion in 2002 (which includes maintenance and repair, and gasoline stations): $9.3 billion in parts and $6.3 billion in services. This is an increase of 5.6 percent over 2001 (DesRosiers Automotive Consultants Inc. 2003 )

24 24 The Canadian Automotive Repair and Service Council – Where people, training and technology meet National Essential Skills Strategy  Information from essential skill profiles and national benchmarking will be used to: Communicate to stakeholders existing levels and those required –Manufacturers –Education system –Industry re professional development  Additional profiles and assessment tools are being developed under phase II of the project
