ZPD Connector An introduction to the new ZPD wire-to-board, crimp style connector series.
2
Many applications require a wire-to-board connector that is sub-miniature in size and offers engineers design flexibility. The ZPD series wire-to-board, double row, crimp-style connectors are on a 1.5mm (.059”) pitch, molded in a RoHS compliant 94V0 Polyamide (SMT headers), are available in SMT and incorporate both polarization and a secure locking feature. Rated at 2A AC/DC (using 24AWG) at 100V AC/DC, these low profile connectors have a side-entry height of only 9.2mm (.228”). The series has an operating temperature range of -25 to +85 C including temperature rise when applying an electrical current. The series is offered in 10 to 30 circuit sizes (increments of 2) in a double row (inline) configuration. ZPD Connector

ZPD Connector crimp style wire-to-board contact The ZPD contacts, which are designed to accommodate a wire range of 24AWG to 28AWG, are tin- plated over a copper alloy base material. The box construction provides ensures stable contact performance, positive electrical contact and low contact resistance at all times even when subjected to vibration and distortion. The suggested wire strip length for the wire is 2.1mm. Standard Contact

ZPD Connector crimp style wire-to-board housing Molded in a PBT UL 94V-0 rated material, the polarized ZPD series housings incorporate a secure locking device to prevent accidental disconnection due to routing of wires or vibration. Available in 10 through 30 circuits (increments of 2), the locking mechanism is designed to allow the user to press down easily and, while grasping the wire for stability, release the assembly from the mating header. An audible click is heard and felt when mating the housing assembly with the mating header. The housing is notched on one side for ease of locating the pin 1 position.

Available in top-entry (vertical) and side-entry (right angle) mounting configurations, the RoHS compliant SMT headers are molded Polyamide rated UL94V-0 and feature insertion guides for easy and secure insertion of the mating ZPD housing. The copper alloy posts are reflow treated tin-plating over copper-underplating and are designed to prevent accidental removal of the pins that might result from distorted mating. Copper alloy, copper-underplated tin-plated reinforcement tabs offer strength and stability to the mounted headers. The SMT headers are packaged in embossed tape with removable suction caps (top-entry) designed for automated placement equipment. ZPD Connector SMT headers

THE ZPD SERIES IS ENGINEERING & MANUFACTURING FREINDLY Applicators are available for semi-automatic and fully automatic termination equipment normally found in the manufacturing environment as well as standard hand tools. Standard reels (16,000 pieces) and mini reels (500 pieces) for the ZPD series for semi-automatic and fully automatic assembly equipment are available for manufacturing. The ZPD Series uses the same applicators and hand tools as the ZE Series. For additional information about our Mini-reel tool refer to the PTM (Product Training Module) under JST on this page.
