o All of these parks are protected by Unesco o Unesco is an organisation which protects national parks, monuments, castles and nature.

o Most of these parks are in Tatras, where the weather is the coldest in Slovakia o The mountains are covered mainly with mixed beech forests, at higher elevations with fir and spruce. o Pine woods and meadows occur at higher altitudes.

o It is a national park in the northern part of the Malá Fatra mountains called Krivánska Malá Fatra. o It has an area of 226.3 km² o The park was created in 1988 o The highest hill is Ve ľ ký Krivá ň -1 709 m.a.t.s.l. o About 70% of the area is covered by forests
