2 Founding Fathers  James Madison- Fourth president of the United States  John Jay- He was a patriot  Benjamin Franklin- invented the lightning rod, bifocals, and the franklin stove

3 Blacksmith- crafters of tools Carpenter- builders Gunsmith- masters of forge

4 Regions New England- Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Maine, New Hampshire. Middle Colonies- New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware. Southern Colonies- Maryland, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia.

5 Family  Their houses were either cabins or small brick houses.  The furnishings looked like wooden chairs and tables.

6 EDUCATION/LITERATURE/ MUSIC Education was like practicing on slate boards, reading books, and assembling puzzles. They played fifes, drums, and the bass.

7 CLOTHES  The men wore petticoats, cloaks, wigs, breeches, hats, dresses  The women wore dresses and bonnets

8 FOOD  They ate basically the same things as we eat today like fish, venison, beef, duck and goose  For vegetables they ate apples, peaches, pears and all sorts of berries.

9 TOOLS  Three types of tools they used are saws, chisel, and drawknife.
