BASIC INFORMATION Location: Chapel Hill, NC 29,127 students(2013) Asian/Asian American 15% Black/African American 11% Caucasian/White 73% Hispanic/Latino/Latina 8% Native American 2% Pacific Islander Less than 1% Carolina offers about 78 bachelors programs, 68 doctorates, 112 masters, and 7 professional degree pograms

BASIC INFORMATION(CONT.) Carolina has 14 schools and has a college of Arts and Sciences Carolina offers degrees in Arts and Science, dentistry, education, pharmacy, government, information and library science, journalism and mass communication, law medicine, nursing, social work, etc. Full time attendance for undergraduate residents of North Carolina is about $24,000 and for out of state residents is about $50,000 UNC Chapel Hill is a public school

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS Students must complete an application which includes a fee and essays which are required Students must also have an official transcript from the last school they attended, official SAT results or ACT exam Students also need a counselor statement and one teacher recommendation

FINANCES & HOUSING For students who need financial aid there are financial aid programs for tuition, housing, fees, and meal plan costs Financial aid is awarded to the first students who apply and meet the requirements On campus housing is provided There are 32 residence halls and also apartments for students Living on campus lets students be a short walk away from all there classes which cuts down on students being tardy

SCHOLARSHIPS UNC offers 2 types of scholarships, merit based scholarships, and need based scholarships One merit based scholarship is the pogue scholarship. In order to get this scholarship a student must apply by the early action deadline. Then the admissions office reviews each student and selects which student to receive the scholarship. This scholarship provides $9,000 annually for the student. One need based scholarship is the Johnston Scholarship. In order to get this scholarship the student must maintain a minimum of a 3.0 average and must submit an application to the admissions office, FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) and CSS Profile forms

HONORS PROGRAMS UNC has many different honors programs Only the top students get into the honors programs. You must take a minimum of two honors courses and maintain a minimum of at least a 3.0 gpa The benefits of the honors programs are students get travel and study abroad. The students also get a faculty mentor and many more things
