30 From: "Anne Brennan" Subject: FW: Transferability of ASU College Credits Date: January 10, 2014 at 11:36:38 AM CST To: Cc:, "Vernese Edghill", "Freda Richmond", "Alfredo Estrada" Dear Mr. Greene, This is to follow-up on our telephone conversation. I understand that you will be offering the Adams State University Leadership courses to CPS Military Academy students as Early College courses and you are doing your due diligence to make sure that the courses will transfer to City Colleges of Chicago. You have shown me the listing of the courses in the Adams State catalog, found on their website. You have stated that the courses will be posted on the Adams State transcript and that 22 credits will be counted as electives toward AA and AS degrees at Adams State. I have asked for you to send me the policy language from an official source at Admass State that says that the credit applies as electives and to send me a copy of how the credits will look on a transcript so that I can share both with our Registrars. Our transfer policy does support awarding this credit to entering CPS students, as long as they send their Adams State transcript to CCC when they enter and it is clear on the transcript that the courses are college level electives that count toward a degree. If the courses look remedial or like continuing education courses, they will not be given credit. I look forward to hearing from you, Anne O. 31 From: "Judy Doyle" Subject: Re: Transferability of ASU College Credits to Northern Illinois University Date: August 7, 2014 at 2:45:34 PM CDT To: "Ritu Subramony", "Bob Greene" Cc: "Walter Roybal",,, "Jerry Montag", "Lisa Freeman", Hello all, In reviewing the course descriptions (attached) I can say that these courses will be accepted as general electives in their perspective areas. HGP 179 will be considered an elective in the Political Science department but does not have an exact match. Some of the Leadership courses might be considered for the major in Community Leadership and Civic Engagement, but I can't say they will be direct equivalents to any of our courses. LEAD 132 might be acceptable as an Interdisciplinary general education elective. LEAD 130 might be acceptable for some Kinesiology or Health majors but does not have a direct equivalent. The initial evaluation for a student submitting these courses on an ASU transcript would be general elective credit applied toward the 120 required for a bachelors degree. However, with a more complete course syllabus, a student might be able to secure major credit with department review.
