We predict that a team whose on base percentage is 34.6% will score 849 runs. (c) Evaluate f (34.6) = 59.55(34.6) – 1211.51 = 848.92 (d) The slope of the linear function is 59.55. This means that if the on-bas percentage increases by 1, then the number of runs scored will increase by about 60 runs.They- intercept, represents the runs scored when the on-base percentage is 0. Since negative runs scored does not make sense and we do not have any observations near zero, it does not make sense to interpret the y-intercept.
