Location Valencia sits on the Mediterranean Coast. It is on the Eastern side of Spain.

Date Founded Valencia was founded in 140B.C. because of transferring soldiers under Junius Brutus, a Roman soldier.

Valencia’s Population Population of city-1,175,000 Population of metropolitan area-2,300,000 Valencia is the third largest city in Spain. Valencia is 15th-most populous municipality in the European Union.

Export and Import Valencia’s ports are on the Mediterranean Coast. Valencia is first of Spain in container traffic and the second of Spain in total traffic. Valencia handles 20% of Spain’s exports.

Los Falles The “fallas” are a Valencian tradition celebrated at the time of Easter. Sections of Valencia have their own Casal Faller that works year-round for this celebration. People make big statues out of wood, then burns them on Easter. At midnight, the largest statue, sometimes standing 5 stories high, is burned. The previously lit statues and this one create a scene throughout the city to appear that it is burning down. In Valencia, fire insurance is the thing to have.

Coastal lines Valencia is often paired up with Murcia. Together, they have more than half of Spain’s eastern coast.
