Poetry Review Imagery/Sensory Language- Words that appeal to your senses of sight, sound, smell, touch, or taste Examples: fuzzy, sour, pine scented cleaner, clang, bright blue Alliteration- Repeating the initial, or first sound of words Example: Her hair flowed like hot lava. The H sound and L sound are repeated at the beginning of words. Theme- the central meaning, message, or lesson of the poem Example: Never give up, beauty can be found in ordinary things

Poetry Review The next slides feature stanzas from the poem “The Raven” by Edgar Allan Poe. Can you find examples of internal rhyme & end rhyme? What is the mood of these stanzas? Identify some examples of imagery (sensory words). What are some examples of alliteration?
