AGRICULTURE AND FARMING Mississippi has some of the richest soil and the nicest soil in the U.S. Mississippi is also good for farming because the weather is in the 90’s. Also Mississippi ‘s weather does wonders for the crops and green lands.

The state hood of Mississippi is 1817 it was an official state. It was the 20 th state. In 1986 the Tennessee Tombigbee waterway was completed. In 2005 hurricane Katrina hit Mississippi's coastline killing hundreds of people, water levels were so high people had to wait to be rescued on their roof tops. HISTORY

Hernando Desoto was the first known European to explore Mississippi. Millions of years ago, ocean waters covered Mississippi, sharks’ teeth have been found in many places. Basilosourus bones have been found too. They come from an ancient whale. As a result, Mississippi has long been one of the poorest state in the country; however, farming isn’t as important as it used to be. Dairy herds gave serenely and seem to be a part of international scenery. The river made a rich soil that supports cotton, soybeans, and other crops. LA Salle, a French explorer, traveled down the Mississippi river in 1682. He claimed the Mississippi valley for France. This included present day Mississippi.
