2 Three Options Pick one of the following options for the assessment on Ancient Greece. DUE at the end of class on Thursday 1/10/13. YOU ARE NOT TO USE THE INTERNET! Use your textbook, notes, and handouts ONLY! 1.Write an original Greek myth 2.Write an essay describing the physical features of Greece and explain how the geography of Greece effected and still effects the people who live there. 3.Write an essay comparing and contrasting the Greek city- states Athens and Sparta. Explain how the relationship between ancient Athens and Sparta affected all of Greece.

3 Criteria Original Myth 50 points Geography Essay 50 points Athens and Sparta Essay 50 points Complete the Writing a Myth starter sheet The myth should have a beginning, middle, and end that flows smoothly Should include the elements of Greek myth and hero that were discussed in class and represent the role that myths played in the lives of ancient Greeks Complete a graphic organizer 5 paragraph essay that includes an introduction, body, and conclusion. 7 Opening A Word Document 1.Go to the Windows symbol and select Microsoft Word 2010 IF YOU DO NOT SEE Microsoft Word 2010 1.Go to the Windows symbol and select All Programs 2.Click on the Microsoft Office folder 3.Click on Microsoft Word 2010

8 Setting Up Microsoft Word Your writing assignment MUST BE double spaced with size 12 font in Times New Roman. Double Spacing: 1.In the Home tab go to the Paragraph section and click on the small arrow in the lower right hand corner 2.In the menu box go to Line Spacing and select Double 3.Click and place a check in the small box that says “Don’t add space between paragraphs of the same style” 4.Click on Ok Font: 1.In the Home tab go to the Font section 2.Select Times New Roman and Size 12

9 Typing Your name, class period, and the due should appear on the left side at the top Hit the Enter key three times and place your title in the center of the page Hit the Enter key two times and being typing your document The first sentence of a paragraph should be indented – hit the Tab key once and the computer will indent for you. The computer will help you with spelling and grammar. Spelling: If a word has a red squiggly line under it you may have spelled it wrong. Right click on the word and correct spellings will be displayed. Click on the word you want to use and the incorrect word will be replaced. Grammar: If a word or phrase has a green squiggly line under it your grammar may be incorrect. Right click over the green line and new options will be displayed. Click on the one you want and the correction will be made

10 To Save Saving your work: 1.The first time you save go to the File tab and select “Save As” 2.In the menu box that pops up, on the left side, click on “Computer” 3.In the new menu box click on the icon that has YOUR NAME in it (example: Eleonard) 4.In the “File Name” bar type in the name of your document and click the Save button. 5.From this point on all you have to do is go to the File tab and select “Save”

11 To Print Printing your work: 1.Make sure your name is at the top right hand corner of your document. 2.Select the File tab and select “Print” 3.Check the box that says “Printer” it should say __________ 4.Click Print 5.Save your work one last time
