These faces can be found in the state of South Dakota. They are carved in granite and each are over 60 feet tall!

Lincoln grew up in a log cabin
Lincoln grew up in a log cabin. He was a hard worker and always tried to be honest. He earned the name ‘Honest Abe’. His son had a pet turkey. On Thanksgiving he gave the turkey a pardon, or let it go, to save its life from being dinner. Lincoln Memorial, Washington D.C. Now the President pardons a turkey every year on Thanksgiving day. One of George’s favorite foods was ice cream
One of George’s favorite foods was ice cream. He would have had to make it with rock salt and crank the machine, in the picture to the right, until the creamy mixture inside was frozen. Here are a set of George’s false teeth. They were made out of ivory from elephants and hippos tusks. Today they can be found in a museum. The Washington Monument in Washington D.C. It is 555 ft tall. Roosevelt loved to hunt. One day he saved a baby grizzly bear though. In 1902, the first stuffed bear toy was made, it was named after Theodore Roosevelt, ‘Teddy’ bear. Teddy loved the outdoors. set aside over 200 million acres of land for national forests and wildlife refuges. They named the park after him. 26th President Theodore Roosevelt Teddy helped with the making of the Panama Canal. This canal made the boat trip from NY to San Francisco much shorter.

Was a great movie star. He was in over 50 movies! Regan always kept a jar of jelly beans on his desk in the White House, and on his plane, Air Force One.

Carter grew up on a peanut farm in Georgia. He worked hard in the fields and on his school work. After he was President, he worked hard with Habitat for Humanity. He built houses and helped others.

He helped write the Declaration of Independence. Thomas Jefferson 3rd President He sent Lewis and Clark to map the Western US. They sent him back two grizzly bears. The bears lived at the White House with Jefferson!

The White House This is where the president lives. It was built in Many repairs and additions have been made since then. Indoor plumbing was added in 1833, and Electricity was added in 1891.

Obama taking the oath in the Oval Office. His wife, Michelle, and their two daughters live in the White House. He grew up in Hawaii, with his Grandparents. Barack Obama 44th President Obama enjoys playing basketball. He has played since High School.
