George Babcock and Stephen Wilcox, the two principal shareholders in the US boiler-making business, launch their UK based company Over 120 years of technical and engineering solutions Babcock & Wilcox Ltd becomes Babcock International Group Ltd Babcock sells boiler business to Mitsui Babcock begins the transformation from engineering company to support services business 1891 1900 1979 1982 1995 1996 2000 Quick run through – 120 years old and known for boilers – particularly from WW1 when our boilers powered most of the warships First entry on the London Stock Exchange Company floated on the Stock Exchange, becoming Babcock International PLC Babcock acquires Rosyth Dockyard
