COMMUNITY CENSUS Community-wide via web Targeted field campaign in 5 neighborhoods + possible additional census tracts PERRY SOUTH, CAL KIRKBRIDE, MARSHALL SHADELAND, NORTHVIEW HEIGHTS, SPRING GARDEN Hired 16 residents Creating an identity for the outreach efforts Need your help! CENSUS WORKING GROUP, SPREAD WORD TO YOUR NETWORKS, DEDICATED SURVEY LOCATIONS

To establish basis for community- wide planning & implementation When? 1-2 hours per month now thru June Meeting 1: MARCH Overview, shared values, guiding the Community Census Meeting 2: APRIL Goals + Priorities Meeting 3: MAY Short-term and Long-term strategies Existing opportunities + resources Meeting 4: JUNE Prepping for Summit + Action Teams STRATEGY TEAM WORK

Tonight’s Teamwork 1. A QUESTION IS ASKED 2. YOU RESPOND ONE IDEA PER NOTE! Write down your ideas with post-its & pens provided As many responses as you can think of

Tonight’s Teamwork 3. IDEAS COLLECTED BY “FLOATING BOATS” One person shares their best or favorite idea Facilitator will write down the theme of that idea on a “boat” If you have a similar idea, put your post-it on the boat We’ll go around until all ideas are collected

To make it work… STAY FOCUSED ON THE QUESTION AT HAND BE CONSIDERATE OF QUIET TIME Turn off cell-phones. Be considerate of others working around you. RESPECT ONE ANOTHER’S IDEAS Contribute don’t criticize. TRUST THE PROCESS Even if it’s confusing or you don’t like it, go with it. If you have something to say, write it down and share when appropriate.
