4 Lesson Starter What are the main causes of poverty? List as many as you can.

5 Causes of Poverty? For this task, you will work with your face partner One of you will be “A”, the other is “B”. Look carefully at the instructions on the next page…

6 Causes of Poverty? 1.Each of you will be given a resource sheet with lots of information about the causes of poverty 2.Individually, read each section on your own 3.After both of you have read the first section, make eye contact with your partner 4.Then, if the section is marked “A”, person A will summarise to person B what the section is about 5.Then move on to the next section marked “B” – after reading, make eye contact and then person B summarises what the section is about to person A 6.Then repeat this process until you have read the whole sheet

11 Homework Create revision flashcards for today’s lesson Divide A4 paper into 8 smaller pieces On one side of each page, write a question about causes of poverty and then write the answer on the other side.

12 Success Criteria I will be able to work as part of a group to work out the meaning of the term ‘social exclusion’ I will be able to identify the groups in society that may be socially excluded I will be able to compare the differences between those who are excluded and those who are not
