All Rights Reserved Step 1 – Install the Tivoli Storage Manager server –The Tivoli Storage Manager server is the brains of the backup Stores backed up data in flexible disk, tape and optical storage pools Maintains a relational database about what was backed up, when, to where, by whom… Creates a copy of the storage pools and database to be taken off-site for disaster recovery purposes Step 2 – Install a Tivoli Storage Manager client on the machines you want to protect –Tivoli Storage Manager client protects a machine’s data –The client sends its data to the central Tivoli Storage Manager server Effective Disaster Recovery Planning
