In the text: Jesus was often asked about prayer His apostles asked Jesus to teach them how to pray He also showed them by example Today we will look briefly at some of the times that Jesus prayed.

Jesus prayed - 1.Beginning a ministry Luke 3:21-22 - 21 When all the people were baptized, it came to pass that Jesus also was baptized; and while He prayed, the heaven was opened. 22 And the Holy Spirit descended in bodily form like a dove upon Him, and a voice came from heaven which said, “You are My beloved Son; in You I am well pleased.”

And Jesus lifted up His eyes and said, “Father, I thank You that You have heard Me. 42 And I know that You always hear Me, but because of the people who are standing by I said this, that they may believe that You sent Me.” 43 Now when He had said these things, He cried with a loud voice, “Lazarus, come forth!”

Your word is truth. 18 As You sent Me into the world, I also have sent them into the world.

Jesus prayed - 13.About His coming death Luke 22:41-44 - 41 And He was withdrawn from them about a stone’s throw, and He knelt down and prayed, 42 saying, “Father, if it is Your will, take this cup away from Me; nevertheless not My will, but Yours, be done.” 43 Then an angel appeared to Him from heaven, strengthening Him. 44 And being in agony, He prayed more earnestly. Then His sweat became like great drops of blood falling down to the ground.

How is your prayer life? Jesus was constantly in communication with His Father. We must learn to “pray with ceasing” (1 Thessalonians 5:17) Is your life connected to God so that prayer is possible?
