Cyberbullying is…  Sending threatening or nasty emails  Repeatedly posting unkind comments on social networking  Encouraging others to post unkind comments on social networking  Making prank phone calls or silent phone calls  Sending repeated threatening or unkind texts  Sending repeated anonymous texts  Making threats or inappropriate comments on a gaming network

5. As a parent what should I be looking for?  Your child becoming withdrawn or very quiet – although they may tell you that nothing is wrong.  They are reluctant to go to school, or join in group activities.  There is a noticeable change in their mood and behaviour.  The child and appears generally more isolated than previously from the rest of the class.  There is a decline in their performance and participation in school work.  They hide their computer or mobile screen from you.

What are we doing in school?  Talking to the children about cyberbullying and what to do if it happens to them  Creating an anti-cyberbullying charter in KS2 to share with the whole school  Encouraging the children to talk to us if they are worried about cyberbullying – or that a friend is being cyberbullied  Teaching the children about ways that they can report abuse on the internet including the CEOP button  Using the STOP programme
