2 Shakespearean Sonnets have
Fourteen lines, it looks like a square, and Always has a rhyme scheme of abab, cdcd, efef, gg. Some times it sounds funny or off because they pronounced things differently in Will’s day

3 Sonnets are written in Iambic pentameter because it mimics the sound of a heart beat. What better sound than a heartbeat to use when writing a love poem.

4 Sonnet 29 The speaker changes from despondent to thankful Despondent means “hopeless or depressed”

5 Sonnet 29 The sense of self-pity is emphasized by the three-quatrain form. Each quatrain builds more and more self pity.

6 “All you prefiguring” means “the past writers’ foreshadowing.
Sonnet 106 “All you prefiguring” means “the past writers’ foreshadowing.

7 Sonnet 106 “So all their praises are but prophecies” is the purpose for writing the sonnet. In other words, Shakespeare wrote the sonnet to praise the beauty (maybe too much) of a woman of his time. He says that the writers’ before him couldn’t say it well and today they can’t say it at all.
