PGES

Working together on PGES  Your teammates don’t necessarily have the same strengths that you do. Reflecting on your ‘reflections’ together can help you discover awesome qualities about yourself that you didn’t even realize you have!  Creating SGGs together allows your grade level to take ownership for all the students, not just your homeroom class.  Analyzing data is not fun alone!  Having conversations about what you want to work on for your PGP this year can very quickly turn into what your entire team wants to work on together to improve this year. Having a team focus keeps you motivated.  Working together relieves stress, encourages new ideas, and strengthens your teaching!  TEAM = Together Everyone Achieves More

TPGESPPGESOPGES…..Who’s with who?!  TPGES (Teacher Professional Growth Evaluation System)  Homeroom Teachers, Art, Music, Tech, RTI, Special Education, Social Studies Lab, Science Lab, PE, Preschool, ELL, BAC  PPGES  Administrators  OPGES  Instructional Coaches, Library, Speech Pathologists, Counselors, Psychologists

Frequently Asked Questions  Who has to complete what this year?  What does it mean in regards to my employment?  What are the dates and deadlines I need to know about?  Who is my support team? Where can I go for help?  I’m new…how am I going to do this?  Is OPGES available yet?

Peer Observations in TPGES  These will occur Dec.-Feb. (not set in stone yet, but likely).  Every teacher must receive at least one peer observation.  If you were in the pilot last year, you do not need to be trained again.  Every teacher gets to choose from the list of trained peer observers, who they would like to observe them.  There will be training available this year for more teachers to be able to become peer observers (6-hour day)  Peer observations are in no way evaluative. They are for self- reflection and do not receive ratings of any kind.  You do not have to be an observer this year, but you must receive a peer observation.  Peer observations are considered “mini”, so approximately 20 minutes long.

Administrative Observations  Your observer will complete:  2 mini observations (20 minutes each)  1 full observation (1 hour)  Pre-Conference (There is a form you fill out prior to this meeting.)  Post-Conference (Discussion of lesson is held; ratings/scores are then determined together.)

What’s Coming Next  If you are new to the PGES, don’t stress! There will be lots of training opportunities and help available to you throughout the year.  In August and September, we will work in PLC groups to use early data we have gathered in order to work together to create our SGGs as teams. We can also do this for our PGPs!  If you are concerned about what sort of data you should gather in order to create your SGG, please stay after to set up a time to meet with Lois.

Amazing Teachers, As you head out to set up your room today and get ready to meet your kiddos remember this…
