Teacher Notes 2 to 3 day project Assign tasks and set deadlines for every 15 minutes. Complete in class. Limit project supplies (paper, colors, markers, pens, pencils, scissors and stick glue). Limit presentation time to 5-7 minutes per project. Plot Diagram Project Focus TEKS: (26A) (13B) (RC9A-B) (2A-C, 5A-D) (Reading, Writing, Listening / Speaking, Research, Oral / Written Conventions, ELPS, Figure 19, CCRS) Try to include all strands ELPS Help Pair ELL with bilingual student. (Pair/Share) Encourage ELL to summarize or retell story to group. (Say Something) Encourage ELL to create pictures to represent plot terms in the story. (Picture it)

Plot Diagram Project Directions Step 1: Introduce Plot terms and take notes. Step 2: Break into groups of 3 or 4. Assign different group members to read, write, plan and draw project. Step 3: Choose a familiar short story or fairy tale. Step 4: Group read the story and identify the plot elements. Step 5: Build a 3D Plot Diagram identifying all the plot terms from the following slide. Step 6: Write a one sentence summary of the story. Step 7: Present the project to the class. All group members must speak during the presentation. *Make sure to explain the theme.
