Simply power on one component using the manufacturer’s remote, the power button on the device or a programmable learning remote and every other device necessary for the system to function properly is automatically powered on. This is accomplished by using any combination of Xantech sensor modules (video, audio, magnetic, LED, contact closure, and AC/DC are available). Because the ISM4 is receiving feedback from the sensor modules, the system always starts in a default state with the proper devices powered on and set to the correct inputs using IR macros. For the installer, programming is quick and easy. Simply capture the IR codes of the components in the system from remote controls using the IR LEARN “eye” on the front of the ISM4 unit. No PC is required making the ISM4 simple yet powerful.

4. Connecting the ISM4 The ISM4 is connected to up to 4 components using Xantech IR emitters and Xantech sensor modules. Each IR emitter is plugged into the corresponding yellow IR OUTPUT port while each sensor module is plugged into the corresponding SENSE IN port. To accommodate larger systems, additional ISM4 units can be stacked together using the IR CONTROL port. The ISM4 is compatible with the entire line of Xantech IR receivers including the Standard, LCD/CFL friendly and Plasma friendly receivers. Simply plug the IR receiver into the red IR RCVR input. The included RS-232 cable can be connected to any advanced control system for both system monitoring and macro triggering functionality. 5. Programming the ISM4 Programming of the ISM4 is done using the IR LEARN eye on the front of the unit. Using the remote control provided by the manufacturer for each piece of equipment, sequences for both power on and power off can be programmed using SOURCE 1 as the trigger device. Delays between commands can be added when necessary using the DELAY button on the front of the ISM4. Simply insert the delay command in between the IR commands as they are being captured into the ISM4. After a macro sequence has been captured, it can be easily tested by pressing the TEST button on the front of the ISM4 unit. In this way, proper functionality is assured. By combining macro capability with hardware sensors, the ISM4 provides the user with both transparent control and ease of use making the ISM4 an invaluable tool for any installer. 6. Benefits of the ISM4 Relatives, baby-sitters, friends and family can all use the system with ease. Once programmed using the IR LEARN receiver on the front of the unit, customers now have an extremely reliable system that anyone can use. Using sensor modules eliminates the guesswork. Unlike macro capable remote control systems, the ISM4 constantly monitors connected equipment keeping components in the proper power state. Inadvertently powering off a device that is required by the system will trigger the ISM4 to power it back on automatically. Customer can use familiar remote controls as well. If source 1 happens to be a satellite receiver, the remote that came with the satellite receiver can be used eliminating costly “learning” remotes and programming time.
