1. Do not use –ed

2.  Past tense verbs tell about something that happened in the past.  The past could be yesterday, last year, last week, an hour ago.  Usually we add “-ed” to the verb to show past tense:  Yesterday, I helped the teacher.  Last week, I studied for my test.

3.  there are some verbs that are past tense and don’t follow the “-ed” rule.  They are special or irregular verbs.

4.  Present tense: come  Past tense: came (not comed)  On Tuesday, a visitor came to our classroom.  Present tense: say  Past tense: said  Yesterday, we said we would walk to school.  Present tense: throw  Past tense: threw  She threw the ball to the pitcher.
