19. Why talk about abuse & neglect in this course? They can cause injury and illness to children. They occur often enough that most will see these problems at some time. Under Ohio law, child day care providers are required to report them -EVEN if it’s just suspected. T15-1

20. Recognizing Abuse 4 Accept that it happens! 4 Train yourself to ask: “Could this be abuse?” whenever a child has an unusual or suspicious injury. 4 Learn the warning signs. T16-1

21. Steps to Take  Report the abuse/neglect to the Children’s Service Agency in your county. It is your legal responsibility to report - even if you just suspect!  Become familiar with how to assist a child who discloses abuse. T17-1
