Formatting Student Tests in Word Columns By creating columns less paper is required for the document. To create columns, highlight the entire Word document (Ctrl + a) and choose…the Columns button on the Formatting toolbar:

Columns After clicking the Columns button and drag the mouse to select the desired number of columns.

Test Bubble Answer Sheets A bubble answer sheet is available through the county website. Click the dropdown menu…Teachers …Teaching Resources…Test Bubble Sheet

Formatting Parent’s Home Study Guide in Word Create personalized study guides with Headers or Titles Headers Click View…Header and Footer…use the switch button on the toolbar to change to the footer screen.

Titles Use the WordArt Tool to create interesting graphic titles. Click the WordArt button on the drawing toolbar.

Titles To recolor or wrap text to the WordArt, use the WordArt toolbar. wrap text Use the “square” option to wrap text. Recolor WordArt Clipart can be added by choosing insert from the main menu line.

Missing Toolbars To view a missing toolbar, click View…Toolbars …and check the desired toolbar.

Custom Toolbars To quickly insert a picture create a custom toolbar. Click View…Toolbars…Customize… The category for placing a picture in the document is Insert…Click the desired command…From File. Drag the accompanying icon to a toolbar and drop in the desired position.

Changing Text To change one or more words in a test pasted in Word, use the Find/Replace tool.

Changing Text Click Edit…Find…Type the word you plan to change, then click the Replace tab and type the word you will use for its replacement. Choose to replace the word the one time or use Replace All to replace all instances of the word.

Formatting Student Tests in PowerPoint Copy one question (and answer choices) at a time. Use this PowerPoint slide layout: Paste all copied information in the section, “Click to add text” using the Paste Special, unformatted text option.

Formatting Student Tests in PowerPoint Highlight the question as it appears in Skills Connection. Cut the question and paste it in the section “Click to add title.” Images, animations, and sounds can be added to the presentation if desired. Usage Options: Students can use the Bubble Answer Sheet to respond to the questions, answers can be marked with dry erase markers on the TV screen, or an interactive presentation can be created for individual work.

Suggested Usage Creating Pre and Post tests Print a test document but have students use the bubble sheet only for answers. This document can become your pretest. Swap with a colleague teaching the same objectives. Use the colleague’s test as the post test. Home Study Guides Create a home study guide for an entire six week period and send home to parents at the beginning of the six week period to prepare them for the material the students will be covering. Sharing PowerPoints Exchange PowerPoint presentations with a colleague that teaches the same content, cutting your work in half!
