2 History of Crossfit  Founded by former high-school gymnast Greg Glassman and Lauren Jenai  Grew from 18 affiliated gyms in 2005 to approx 1,700 nationwide in 2010  Also has a division for children (Crossfit Kids)

3 What is Crossfit?  A Fitness Revolution  Crossfit incorporates the 10 basic elements of fitness 1. Agility 2. Balance 3. Speed 4. Power 5. Accuracy 6. Stamina 7. Coordination 8. Flexibility 9. 4 What is Crossfit cont….  Weightlifting  Sprinting  Gymnastics  Power lifting  Kettle bell training  Plyometrics  Rowing  Medicine ball training

5 Why are people there?  No repetition in the workouts  Keeps things interesting  To get in shape

6 How does it make them feel?  “It made me feel great, always wanting to come back for more, and leaves me wanting to push harder the next time”  “It makes me feel like a bad a**”  “It made me feel good”  “When I fight through the pain, I feel fantastic!”

7 How does it make me feel?  Relieved (stress)  Exhausted  Better about myself

8 How does the Crossfit fit within our society?  Everyone wants to like the way they look and Crossfit is a different way to accomplish that  Saves time rather than just going into the gym and working out randomly (longest workout is an hour)  Get more out of Crossfit workout because it works your whole body
