Effective Engage ISNNEC C3 needs Common Net-Centric building blocks IS-NNEC is achieved by convergence of planned and existing capability

NNEC Definition NNEC is the Alliance’s ability to integrate the various components of the operational environment, from the strategic level (including NATO HQ) down to the tactical levels, through a networking and information infrastructure.

NNEC Strategic Framework Defence Planning Strategic Concepts NNEC Strategic Framework Vision Concept Business Case Roadmap Architecture Detailed Plan Concept Development & Experimentation Research & Technology Education & Training Strategic Framework Development NNEC Implementation National Initiatives Inputs from ICTs, ACO, NC3O, … NNEC Feasibility Study Capability Review MCM NNEC Development Foundation Document

IS-NNEC Strategic Framework  Vision & Concept – Overarching View  Guidance, Principles, Rationale, summary of various aspects  Draft Version 3.0 completing staffing in HQ SACT (many comments)  Business Case – Risk / Benefit Analysis, elements of understanding  Examination of options for NEC improvements  Roadmap – Develop coherence among programs  Links developmental efforts between functional areas, national efforts, Service-Oriented solutions  High-Level Framework – Structural view to aid conceptual development  Detailed Plan – Implementation steps for near-term NEC development.

Information Interoperability NNEC Feasibility Study ACT NNEC sponsored Interoperability R&D Tactical (Data Link) Information Sharing C4ISR Sources and Services Interoperability Value Added Services

Tactical Information Management (TIM) Helps to support the introduction of Service- Oriented Architectures and cross domain information sharing. Exploits technical solutions based on agreed Standards (STANAG 5516, 5511, etc.) for information sharing without a major re- engineering effort. Provides an IP Edge Proxy to Tactical Data Links and other real-time, near real-time networked systems.

C4ISR Sources & Services Interoperability (CSSI) Research Analysis of C4ISR sources & services (semantics/models) and requirement for interoperable enterprise services Demonstration of Information Cohesion between Heterogeneous Domains Conduct interface demonstration of CSSI Information Fusion demonstrating ontology development and mappings. Develop capability for search/filtering of streaming data and recording real-time information into a database (Info Mgmt) Expand sources beyond Intel & TDL & METOC

Interoperability Value Added Services (IVAS) Working with CSSI project, develop prototype for Information Cohesion between Heterogeneous Domains Development of an exploratory prototype Ontology - based Inference Engine Research XML Metadata Registry requirements, specification and use 24/7 NNEC operational use and NATO standardization Namespace Managers Forum (collaboration) Expand Ontology beyond Intel & TDL & METOC
