What is a rational number? A rational number is any number that can be written in fraction form,, where a and b are integers and b ≠ 0 For Example: -4 5 .25 1.5 .8888 Any decimal that is terminating or repeating How can these numbers be written as fractions and decimals?

What is an integer? An integer is a whole number and its opposite For example: -2, -1, 0, 1, 2 No fractions and no decimals

What is an Irrational number An Irrational Number is any number that cannot be written in fraction form,, where a and b are integers and b ≠ 0

What is a whole number? Whole numbers are simply the numbers 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, and so on Counting numbers are whole numbers except without zero, because you cant count zero There are no negatives, no fractions and no decimals

What is a Natural Number A Natural Number is simply a whole number, but we do not include zero For example: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and so on No zero, negatives, fractions or decimals

Homework Fill out the numbers system chart using your notes from class I hope you took GREAT notes =) We will go over the chart again tomorrow and I will add in some more examples for you When making the chart be sure to have it colorful, so it will stand out in your notebook
