Enola Gay Takes Off O August 6, 1945 at 1:45 AM O Weighed over 65 tons O Carried the 9,000 pound bomb (code-named Little Boy) O Contained 7,000 gallons of fuel O Had a crew of 12

The Rendezvous Point O Enola Gay and six other B-29 bombers rendezvous over Iwo Jima O “The Great Artiste”, “Necessary Evil”, “Top Secret”, “Straight Flush”, “Jabbitt III” and “Full House” were the other B-29 bombers used in the mission. O Rendezvoused at 4:52 AM O “Top Secret” lands at Iwo Jima

The Bomb is Dropped O 8:15 AM O “Little Boy” and 3 weather instruments are released above the city O Bomb explodes at 8:16 AM 1,890 feet above target.

Returning Home O Enola Gay touches down back in Tinian at 1:58 PM with the Great Artiste and Necessary Evil arriving a short time later O Each crew member awarded a Silver Star for the mission O Tibbets received the Distinguished Service Cross
