Possessive adjectives

We can use an ‘s to show possession in English. Juan’s pen But, in Spanish there is NO apostrophe! We use DE to show possession. La pluma de Juan In Spanish and English, you can also use a POSSESSIVE ADJECTIVE to show possession.

A possessive adjective tells what belongs to someone or shows a relationship Examples: Her book Whose book? my sister How are they related?

The possessive adjectives in Español are: my your (i) his/her/ your (f) our y’alls Their you all’s mi mis tu tus su sus nuestr@ nuestr@s su sus vuestr@ vuestr@s

All adjectives, even POSSESSIVE adjectives must match the noun in GENDER &NUMBER mi profesora nuestros libros

POSSESSIVE ADJECTIVES must go BEFORE the noun they describe!!!!!! Usually in Spanish the adjective goes AFTER the noun it describes. His cat: _______ gato The black : ___ gato _______ cat su negro el
