Flow Now I hear The night sensing the power On a still moonlit moment And again, There are echoes of past and future changes in the flow of time, seeking a foothold, Tangible, Purposeful, Rising.
3
{ Big Idea: Create piece of artwork based on a core idea or central theme. Create a found poem by circling poetic words or phrases on a page of fiction/nonfiction.
4
{ Materials: One of the speeches- “I Have a Dream” or “The Great Dictator’s Speech” 1 piece of parchment paper Tape or glue Watercolor Paint, colored pencils or Markers Pencils Sharpie Marker or black pen
5
{ Step One: Choose 1 page from “I Have a Dream” that reflects one part of your poem (the beginning, middle, or end). “The Great Dictator’s Speech” is only one page, so you don’t have an option.
6
{ Step Two: Lay the parchment paper over the page and use tape or glue to adhere the pages together.
7
{ Step Three: Now take a pencil and begin to circle words the words or phrases you used in your poem in the order they appear in the speech. The words/phrases circled need to be the same or similar words/phrases your used in your poem.
8
{ Step Four: Retrace your circled words using a black sharpie or pen. Think about the word that represents the core idea of your poem. At least one word should give you a good visual image to create from.
9
{ Step Five: Color over the un-circled words with your graphic representation (your drawing) of the core idea.
10
{ Step Six: Once you have the background image, colors laid down, add more detail.
11
{ Step Seven: Write your “core idea” (the title) word in sharpie or colored marker on your final page. Create thick to thin lines by over-lapping the Sharpie lines that you want to be thicker.
12
Assessment: Final page included a poem of a minimum of 12 words Graphic representation (drawing) added meaning to the poem Title: One word or a phrase was written in hand-drawn letterforms and it was the core idea of the poem Able to recognize poetic words and/or phrases in text and create a poem that made sense. Handwritten or typed poem is included with final product Each bulleted item is worth 10 points for a total of 50 points. Wicked He eyes and smile dreaming Her movements graceful She was golden-winged Had not kissed her except they danced this golden kitten to meet him.
