12. These are called the Elgin Marbles
These are called the Elgin Marbles. It was the frieze that went around the inner wall of the Greek Parthenon. They are named the Elgin marbles for the British scholar who took them out of the Parthenon and brought them to England.

13. These carvings go the whole way around the room and show different scenes of the Precession to Athena. It was like a parade that went through the town of Athena in honor of the goddess Athena. It ended at her temple, the Parthenon, where gifts were laid at the feet of her statue.

These figures came from a section under the peak of the roof. Each end of the building had carved figures like these. They are supposed to be carvings of the Greek gods. The tallest one would have been in the peak. The frieze was found on the wall behind the outer set of columns.
