6 LOYOLA UNIVERSITY CHICAGOQUINLAN SCHOOL OF BUSINESS Expectations of B.S./M.B.A. Program Complete undergraduate requirements and submit graduation application Apply to BS/MBA program by April 1 st for acceptance for Fall quarter, or by November 1st for acceptance for Spring quarter Attend initial advising and orientation meetings with Quinlan Graduate Programs After admission, register with BCS (Business Career Services)

7 LOYOLA UNIVERSITY CHICAGOQUINLAN SCHOOL OF BUSINESS FAQ’s/Points to Remember No deferral of admission (students should enroll for the quarter immediately following the completion of undergraduate requirements) A minimum of 64 undergraduate credit hours must be completed at Loyola before graduation Graduate classes taken while student is enrolled as full-time undergraduate student are covered under undergraduate tuition flat semester rate

8 More FAQ’s Most classes are held once per week in evenings from 6:00 – 9:00 p.m. Tuition is ~$4,110 per 3 credit course for 2013-2014 year; financial aid is mostly in form of loans. Quinlan Graduate Programs are on quarter system (10 weeks per quarter)

10 LOYOLA UNIVERSITY CHICAGOQUINLAN SCHOOL OF BUSINESS BS/MBA Course Waivers Waivers can come from ISOM 400 and Fundamental Core courses only 3 common waivers for BS/MBA students: Statistics, Calculus, Economics Grade of “B” or higher required in at least two undergraduate courses per subject area (Business Ethics for MGMT does not count) ISOM 491 and ISOM 400 require only one undergraduate statistics course to waive with grade of “B” or higher

Level of professionalism should be comparable to any corporate environment: -Active class/group participation -Effective, respectful communications with faculty, staff and colleagues – regardless of circumstances -Regular class attendance -Prompt arrivals -Prompt submission of quality deliverables (i.e., assignments) -Professional courtesies to faculty and colleagues -Minimal use of cell phones & pagers

13 LOYOLA UNIVERSITY CHICAGOQUINLAN SCHOOL OF BUSINESS Comparison between BS/MBA and “regular” MBA Program BS/MBA students generally take 2 MBA courses while still undergraduates; regular MBA students do not. BS/MBA students have strict application deadline & the program admits twice per year; regular MBA students can apply & enroll in any of the four quarters. All students eligible for same MBA course waivers (coursework taken during the last 7 years can be used to calculate waivers) Most other aspects are the same; all other aspects being equal, someone in the traditional MBA program might take approximately one quarter longer to complete the program than someone in the formal BS/MBA program

15 LOYOLA UNIVERSITY CHICAGOQUINLAN SCHOOL OF BUSINESS Time Line Senior Year – First Semester Apply to the MBA program (by 11/1 for Spring quarter; by 4/1 for Fall quarter) http://www.luc.edu/quinlan/mba/mba-application/index.shtml Choose “BS/MBA” under the “Dual Degree” section Take GMAT (www.mba.com) or GRE examwww.mba.com Senior Year-2nd Semester Generally take two approved MBA courses (usually MARK 460 and ACCT 400), which should count toward both the undergraduate degree and MBA program (confirm with College of Arts & Sciences). Complete all other requirements for the BS program. Graduate with your Bachelor’s Degree in Biology or Environmental Science! 5th Year+ Take remaining MBA courses until degree completed Graduate with your MBA!
