Project Overview zTeachers collaborate with physicists on an aspect of collider physics. ySummer 1999 - 8-week research appointment yAcademic-Year Work ySummer 2000 - 3-week summer research appointment
5
Project Overview zTeachers collaborate with other teachers to explore and develop inquiry-based & constructivist practices. yMultiple seminars and lunches during the summer yAcademic-Year Work yUp to 10 local teachers join in a local institute during summer 2000.
6
Project Overview zStudents gain access to: yon-line data sources. ynew ways to approach classical problems. ythe scientific process as it applies to some of the largest experiments undertaken.
7
Project Overview zWe are creating a QuarkNet center at Fermilab this summer. There will be two different projects: yWorking with the DØ group to develop Web-based on-line data monitoring. The data stream approaches a terabyte/day. yWorking with the CDF group to install and commission detector components.
8
Project Overview zThis Fermilab QuarkNet center will host a 3-week institute for up to 10 more teachers during the summer of 2000. yTeachers will work to develop an understanding of particle physics. yThey will also work towards growth in their teaching.
