4 Lessons Learned Working with IACBE Have ONE IACBE contact person. Have designated campus person(s) who make(s) all contacts with IACBE. Consult the IACBE website frequently for updates. Verify, verify, verify... Ask questions before you make major changes or assumptions.

5 Lessons Learned Working with your Academic Business Unit Select a team leader who is tech savvy and assessment friendly. Select team members/assessment leaders from each academic program. Determine a point person for each Principle. Engage administrative assistants with specific responsibilities throughout the process. Appoint an editor to give your document one voice and verify consistency. Remember faculty schedules; faculty generally do not work in the summer.

6 Lessons Learned Working with Software Project Management Establish realistic dates – Enforce Dates Build in extra time for writing, editing, revision, AND breaks from campus. Train team to use of the PM tool. Be sure everyone uses the PM tool.

7 Lessons Learning Working with Software SharePoint 2013 Train team members to use the software. Set up work area for each principle and each principle’s appendix. Establish standards for document formats including naming, software, software versions, document titles, etc. Ensure all team members work on documents in SharePoint not in other programs; cutting and pasting create many problems in editing.

8 Lessons Learned the Process If you are not sure, ASK your liaison with IACBE. Documents and templates CHANGE; check frequently to verify you are following the right process. Remember your OAP, although an attachment, is part of the self-study. It can’t be “in process.”

9 Lessons Learned Continual Documentation Maintain the self-study on the SharePoint portal; upload new items in a special folder. Develop checklists for securing documents across campus and for the business unit. Maintain yearly updates of IACBE formatted faculty vitae. Track faculty scholarship on a yearly basis. Collect syllabi and check for currency with IACBE requirements yearly. Develop yearly load and SCH production report.
