Childhood Obesity ● Doubled in children, quadrupled in adolescents ● 13 million children and adolescents in the U.S. are obese ● $14 billion every year in healthcare expenses

Heritage Intermediate School ● Employs five PE teachers all with the proper credentials ● Approximately 700 Students ● Requires PE daily for 60 minutes

Distinguishing Characteristics ● Cardio Day weekly (timed mile) ● Weight Room/Fitness Room (Weekly) ● Hybrid Games (ex. racket baseball, hocker) ● Lectures on nutrition, anatomy, and lifelong fitness ● Separating boys and girls

School Shortcomings ● 7 out of 10 schools do not offer PE every day ● 44% of school administrators cut time for PE and recess to devote to academics ● Instructors are not trained in physical education ● Games don’t inspire participation by all students
