Thanksgiving Day is a very important day in America which is on the last Thursday of November. At this day families have turkey for dinner and people are thankful for things they have. This map represents the origins of this day.

150 pilgrims went to America from England in a ship called Mayflower. They arrived to Plymouth Rock, a settlement in the east coast of the continent.
4
They arrived in winter, so they were very cold, they hadn’t got any food and they didn’t know how to get it. Because of this, half of them died, so there were 75 pilgrims left.
5
Samoset went to the settlement and said to the pilgrims: “Welcome”. This surprised them because he spoke in English, which is their language.
6
Later, another native went to the settlement, Squanto. He had been in England with his owner, because he was a slave, and he learnt to speak english from the fishing men. When Squanto was released, he went to America and he taught the pilgrims how to grow corn.
7
Autumn came, and pilgrims collect the harvest. They did a very big dinner all together to celebrate the harvest and because they were thankful with Squanto for helping them.
8
Nowadays, people in America celebrate this day as the Thanksgiving Day, which is on the last Thursday of November. People have turkey for dinner and say for what they are thankful.
