John F. Kennedy President of the United States and Human Rights Activist

J.F.K. He was born on May 29, 1917 in Brooklyn Massachusetts. He lived in Brooklyn for his first 10 years in his life. He was voted “most likely to be president” in his high school yearbook. He attended Harvard college.

What he did? Besides being president, J.F.K. worked to provide an easier life for He also worked in the movement of the civil rights. He also helped create the peace corp. Peace corp helps promote peace and friendship around the world.

The presidential election In 1960 J.F.K ran for president. He was in the Democratic party. He won the election with 303 votes but only 269 were needed to win. He won the election by 34 votes.

Family He was married to Jacqueline Bouvier on September 12, 1953. He and his wife later had 3 children. His first child died shortly after it was born, but his other two children were named Caroline and John Jr.

Assassination J.F.K. was assassinated in Dallas Texas at 12:30 pm on November 22, 1963 while on a political trip to Texas. He was shot twice, in the neck and head, by Lee Harvey Oswald and was declared dead at 1:00 pm. He is buried at the Arlington National Cemetery. His grave is lit by an eternal flame.

Famous quote "Ask not what your country can do for you; ask what you can do for your country.” This was his quote in his speech when he was sworn in as 35 th President of the United States of America.

Facts He was third in the list of the most admired people in the twentieth century. Caroline is the only surviving member of the Kennedy family. His favourite color was green. He was only president for three years. His right leg was ¾ of an inch longer than his left leg. He was the first roman-catholic president.

More facts Kennedy won the Pulitzer prize in 1957 for writing his book “Profiles in Courage”. He was the first president to also be a boy scout. C.S. Lewis died on the same day Kennedy was shot. He could say 350 words in a minute. J.F.K. had a sister who was mentally impaired.

Even more facts… His friends called him Jack. His favourite poem was “I Have a Rendezvous With Death” by Alan Seeger He was the only president to appoint their brother to a cabinet post.
