AEROSPACE ENGINEERING If you are passionate about aircraft and spacecraft, and want to be involved in their development, this sector could be for you.

ANIMAL HEALTH & WELFARE If you love the idea of working with animals, this could be just what you are looking for. You can help to care for or treat animals at veterinary practices, in kennels, zoos, rescue centres or sanctuaries.

ARMY There are more than 220 different roles in the Army. Whether you’re interested in combat, medical, engineering, logistics, HR or intelligence, there could be a career for you.

AUTOMOTIVE ENGINEERING If you are passionate about cars and want an engineering career, this sector could be perfect for you. There are options to specialise in any stage of the motor manufacturing process, from the initial vehicle design through to final production.

BROADCASTING & MEDIA From journalist to web designer, in this sector you could be working in film, TV, radio or any number of other aspects of media. Some jobs require a specific talent, but often enthusiasm, hard work and experience are just as important.

BUILDING & CONSTRUCTION From structural engineering to stonemasonry, construction is a huge sector with a wide variety of roles. If you're a practical person, are interested in how things work and are put together, construction could be the industry for you.

BUSINESS In the Business sector there are a broad range of jobs and work environments to suit most personalities, and you can progress to many levels and salaries. Roles include human resources, legal secretary, management consultancy and receptionist.

CARE WORK & ADVICE If you enjoy helping people and want to make a difference to their lives, this sector could be just what you are looking for. You could work with children, people with physical or learning disabilities, older people or families.

CATERING & HOSPITALITY Have you got a passion for food and drink? Whether you want to sell, cook or serve food or drinks there's a job in this sector where you can put your passion into action! You could work in hotels, restaurants or pubs, at tourist attractions, outside events and private parties.

COMPUTING Computing includes designing and building hardware and software systems for a wide range of purposes from managing business systems to doing scientific research to designing and producing computer games and developing communications technology. The opportunities in computing are vast.

CREATIVE ARTS & DESIGN The one thing that all jobs in this family have in common is creativity. So if you're an ideas person and you like creating things that are useful and visually appealing, take a look at this sector.

ENGINEERING & MANUFACTURING This is a big sector with a wide range of jobs, but many of them involve machines and practical processes. So if you like working with your hands or in processes that involve turning raw materials into products, then you might want to explore this sector.

ENVIRONMENT & LAND-BASED This is an extremely diverse sector including waste management and water, food production, land management and forestry, animal health and welfare and environment conservation and landscape management

FINANCIAL SERVICES The UK has a large financial services industry with a huge variety of roles in it. You'd expect to need organisational skills, business sense and be good with numbers to do these jobs, but you can also need people skills too.

HAIRDRESSING & BEAUTY There are three main areas in the hair and beauty sector - Hairdressing, Beauty and Make-up. You could run your own business, work in a salon, work overseas or work on cruise ships.

LEGAL SERVICES In many jobs in legal services you need an investigative mind and the ability to understand large amounts of information. If this sounds like you and you are interested in justice, then law might be a good sector to explore.

LEISURE & TOURISM In the leisure and tourism sector you’d be helping people enjoy their leisure time, whether that’s in a sports centre, a museum, a wedding venue or when they’re on holiday.

MARKETING & ADVERTISING From planning an advertising campaign to advising customers on their purchases, these jobs are all about selling goods and services. With many of the jobs it will help if you've got good commercial sense and understand how customers think. In some of the jobs you'll need creativity too, to think of different ways to make your products attractive to people

MEDICAL & NURSING Working in medicine and nursing, you should have an interest in people's health and well-being. For many of these roles you'll also need communication skills, patience and team working skills. If this sounds like you then why not take a closer look at this sector?

PERFORMING ARTS In this sector you could be working in music, drama or dance, either performing, teaching or in production/support roles. You could work in the circus, at concert venues or in the theatre. Some jobs require a specific talent, but enthusiasm, hard work and experience are also very important.

PUBLISHING & JOURNALISM If you're enthusiastic about written communication, you should find this sector appealing. You could use your written skills in industry and commerce, or use your creativity and imagination to write novels. You could provide content for websites and blogs or you might even aspire to work as a radio or television journalist.

RETAIL Most of the jobs in this sector involve selling products or services to customers. Some of the main skills you need are communication skills, product knowledge, being polite and commercial awareness.

ROYAL AIR FORCE The RAF offers a range of work, training and experiences that you can put to use in building a successful career. Within each RAF job role there is a variety of different kinds of work you could do. As you move from one posting to another, you will have new opportunities to gain skills and experiences.

ROYAL NAVY A career in the Royal Navy could involve policing the world's oceans, delivering humanitarian aid or being deployed in combat. No matter what job you do in the Royal Navy, you'll be a key part in operations around the world.

SPORT If you’re an active person who enjoys sport there is a range of jobs in this sector you might be interested in, from working in community sport to martial arts, or personal training to sports physiotherapy.

TEACHING Many jobs in education are about using your communication skills and knowledge to help people to develop and learn. So whether you like working with children, training people in sports, or working in colleges/universities, this is a field where you can use your knowledge and skills to help others.

TRANSPORT & LOGISTICS The transport & logistics industry includes all modes of travel, from airlines to trains, and lorries to taxis. For driving jobs you’ll need to enjoy driving and have good concentration, for jobs in transport planning or warehousing you’ll need organisational skills, and for public-facing jobs like being a train conductor good customer service skills are important.

UNIFORMED SERVICES The emergency services include fire and rescue services, ambulance services and HM Coastguard, which is responsible for search and rescue at sea. There are also career opportunities in HM Prison Services.

VOLUNTARY & COMMUNITY Many jobs in this sector are about using your communication skills help people within the community, or to provide support or care to disadvantaged people. So whether you like working with children or helping with community sports, this is is a field where you can use your knowledge and skills to help others.
