George Washington- was the Commander-in-Chief of the Continental Army during the American Revolutionary War. John Jay was born on Dec. 12, 1745. John Jay served as the President of the Continental Congress (1778-79) an honorific position with little power. Benjamin Franklin was born Jan. 17, 1706. John Adams was born October 30, 1735. He died on July 4, 1826.

Family life in the 1700s is much different than life we have today. Back then, they had horses & carriages, cans & string for phones, and different clothes than today. Now, we have computers, cellphones, cars, internet, television, and clothes stores so you don’t have to knit all of your clothes.

Slavery was a terrible thing. In the late 1700’s people stole African Americans and treated them like slaves. Slaves are people who do all of your chores. All slaves are black. Then, if they didn’t do what you want them to do, they sold their slaves to other people.
