1 The Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK)
The PMBOK guide is an attempt to document the generally accepted PM information and practices and has since become the standard amongst project management around the globe.

2 The Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK) is a collection of processes and knowledge areas generally accepted as best practice within the project management discipline. As an internationally recognized standard (IEEE Std ) it provides the fundamentals of project management, irrespective of the type of project be it construction, software, engineering, automotive etc. PMBOK recognizes 5 basic process groups and 9_knowledge areas typical of almost all projects. Processes overlap and interact throughout a project or phase. Processes are described in terms of: Inputs (documents, plans, designs, etc.) Tools and Techniques (mechanisms applied to inputs) Outputs (documents, products, etc.)

4 Project Cost Management
Describes the processes involved in planning, estimating, budgeting, and controlling costs so that the project can be completed within the approved budget. Estimate Costs Determine Budget Control Costs Comments: for developing cost estimates and budgets and performing ongoing project cost control.

9 The Project Management Knowledge Areas organize the 42 project management processes into nine Knowledge Areas. Project Management Knowledge Areas describe the key competencies that project managers must develop. Four core knowledge areas lead to specific project objectives (scope, time, cost, and quality). Four facilitating knowledge areas are the means through which the project objectives are achieved (human resources, communication, risk, and procurement management). One knowledge area (project integration management) affects and is affected by all of the other knowledge areas.
