× 10 3 How do we write numbers in Scientific Notation? To put a number in scientific notation, first move the decimal to the right or left until the number is greater than 1, but less than 10. Then write the power of 10 By moving the decimal 3 places to the left, we really divided by 1000. So we have to multiply by 10 3 in order to represent the original number. Example: 2 6 7 8

Writing in Decimal form To change a number from scientific notation to decimal form just move the decimal. + Exponent: move right - Exponent: move left
