Need of Conservation & Cultivation of Medicinal Plants by everyone
Medicinal plants are facing serious threat due to incessant biotic pressure and destructive harvesting. There is need to preserve the gene pool of wild medicinal plants.

Marathi Name- Pimpli / pimpali mood Botanical Name - Piper longum (PIPERACEAE)
Habit – Sub-scandent herb Part used - Roots and fruits Medicinal uses –diarrhea, indigestion, jaundice, abdominal disorders, voice, asthma, hiccough, cough, malarial fever, vomiting, thirst Mode of propagation – By seeds, stem cuttings and tillers.

Marathi name – Shatavari Botanical Name - Asparagus racemosus
Habit- Climber (Annual aerial stem & perennial underground stem and rootstock) Part used- Tuberous roots Medicinal use- Leucorrhoea, fatigue, abortions and general debility. Other uses- Plant is ornamental and attractive. Propagation- By seed Soil- Loose,well drained, rich soil. Watering- Regular and moderately heavy. Special care- Proper support.

Local Name – Korphad Botanical Name - Aloe vera.
Habit- A perennial herb with thick fleshy leaves. Part used- Elio (Leaf pulp) and leaf juice. Medicinal use- Jaundice, Menstrual disorders, skin diseases, scalp disorders, burns Other uses- Plant is ideal for rockeries and terrace cultivation in full sunlight. Propagation- By division of suckers Soil- Well drained, sandy or murrumy soil. Watering- Light and with 1-2 day intervals. Special care- Avoid water logging

Habit- A large perennial Climber Part used- Stem Medicinal use- Burning sensation of extremities, chronic fevers, skin diseases , jaundice and general debility. Other uses- Plant has attractive foliage. Prefers moderate sunlight, Soil- Loose, well drained, rich soil. Watering- Regular and moderately heavy Needs support to climb on, preferably a tree (Neem is ideal).

Habit- A fleshy leaved perennial herb .Part used- Leaves Medicinal use- To treat difficulty in urination. Other- Leaves are attractive Propagation- By cuttings, Prefers moderate sunlight Soil - loose,well drained, rich soil. Also grows in sandy soil. Watering- Regular and heavy.

Habit- A small prostrate herb with fleshy leaves. Part used- Leaves Medicinal use- Epilepsy ,mental disorders ,insomnia sterility and general tonic etc. Propagation- By cuttings Soil- Rich soil. Watering- Regular and heavy. 2-3 times a day. Special care- Should be kept permanently moist. Should not be allowed to get too hot.

Soil- Loose, fertile, moist, rich soil. Watering- Prefers to be permanently moist. Tolerates waterlogging.

Other- Flowers are small but attractive. Propagation- By seed Prefers moderate sunlight. Soil- Loose, well drained, rich soil. Watering- Moderate. Note- Collect seed at the end of the growing season and store for next year
