2 Teacher Roles  MENTOR  Leads student decision making in and out of the classroom environment.  EDUCATOR  Relay knowledge to students.  Consider the number of hours you will spend with your students.  Average Educator 180 days X 40 minutes/per student = 120 hours.  Music Educator 180 days X 40 minutes/per student X 6 years (7-12) = 720 hours.  This does not account for after school activities.

3 Your Most Influential Role as an Educator is that of a Person  Compassion  Understanding  Involvement  These all deal with the personal lives of your students.  BE CAREFUL!!!!

5 TECHNOLOGY  Email  Texting  Twitter  Facebook / My Space  Any written communication, regardless of intent or context, could be used to hold you liable for situations involving students.

6  Allegations and Reputations Whether true or not, once an allegation has been made about you or tied to you in some way, it is very difficult to ameliorate your reputation.

7  Are teachers held to a higher standard?
