In charge of lighting /electricity In charge of moving items on set. 4 PRODUCER Initiates, coordinates, supervises
controls, & involved in all aspects of production process. Often develops idea / script with writer and secures rights, hires director, supervises casting, assembles crew, creates schedule. Oversees budget & coordinates postproduction work.

5 DIRECTOR Responsible for entire creative end of film
Directs actors & film crew Controls movie’s artistic & dramatic aspects Determines eventual look & feel of film

6 EXECUTIVE PRODUCER Typically involved in financial & legal aspects
Rarely involved in day to day production Supervises one or more producers

ASSOCIATE PRODUCER Often helps producer with post-production items Often honorary title given to friends, relatives, business partners of producers, directors, (ie. not very important) Look! Did you see me in the credits!?

8 CASTING DIRECTOR Responsible for determining who will audition for producer & director. Doesn’t determine final cast

9 1st Assistant Director / 2nd Assistant Director (1st AD, 2nd AD)
Make sure everything /everyone in right place at right time. Yells "Quiet on the set!”, orders camera to "Roll." Prior to production, AD often breaks down script into shooting schedule. Often gateway to other positions like director / producer. 2ND AD makes sure first AD’s orders are carried out. Frequently in charge of filming large scenes where primary actors aren’t seen, battle / stunt sequences with extras.

12 SCRIPT SUPERVISOR / CONTINUITY
In charge of continuity Ensures movie that is shot out of sequence (most films are) eventually makes sense. Make sure actors say same lines /wear same clothing during each "take”.

13 CINEMATOGRAPHER (DP) /CAMERA OPERATOR
Defines photographic style / look of film 2nd only to director in creating mood & visual style of film Transforms screenwriter's / director's ideas into visuals Determines best lenses, angles, setup, movement, exposure, lighting necessary for desired effect camera operator is responsible for carrying out cinematographer’s directions.

14 CINEMATOGRAPHER (DP) /CAMERA OPERATOR

15 GAFFER Head electrician In charge of all lighting personnel.
BEST BOY is gaffer’s assistant.

16 KEY GRIP (GRIPS in General)
In charge of people who move anything—scenery, cameras, etc. Set up / take down scaffolding that lights, microphones etc. hang on.

17 PRODUCTION DESIGNER responsible for appearance of movie's sets, locations & costumes. Background in scenic design / architecture Contribute to "feel" of movie Art Director: generally production designer's assistant, work with sets, locations.

entry level position. often work for little or no money hoping to eventually advance assigned any task that may arise… Grunt, lackey, coffee getter, servant

Records dialogue /ambient noise of scene in charge of all mics used on set Make things sound like they look
