7 This Class The Security+ exam about security concepts, NOT a hacking exam, NOT a hands on exam, or an exam that requires knowledge of specific Operating Systems or products. As such this class is mainly lecture and class discussion. You SHOULD read the material before class for the best learning experience You SHOULD be prepared to ask questions about areas you don’t understand To make this class more interesting. Students SHOULD participate and be as interactive in class as possible, ask questions, answer questions, provide examples where you have seen these concepts applied day to day

8 A note about the slides At the title of each slide there is often a number in parenthesis. This number refers to the page of the CompTIA Security+ Get Certifified Get Ahead SY0-201 Study Guide where the material is covered in the book. Some slides have a (n/b) which means that the information is not in the book, but should be understood for the exam.

9 About the book Finally.. Don’t believe everything you read in the book. It’s a very good book for understanding the concept on the exam. However there are some technical errors in the book as there are in almost all technical books. Always think for yourself and if you don’t agree with something, ask your instructor, someone else, or research it yourself!
