- Fire, harmful substances, Jewellery when playing sport…

First step is identifying the hazard/risk…
Then use this formula: Likelihood x Severity
Likelyhood: Severity:
Unlikely 1. No injury/ minor injury
Quite likely 2. Injury requiring medical assistance
Very likely 3. Major injury or fatality
E.G- capsizing a kayak:
Likelihood: 2 Quite likely Severity: 1. No injury
Likelihood x Severity= 2

Minimise risk by introducing control measures where possible, to reduce the risk.
E.G. coning off an area
