1. Bryophyllum also known as air plant, life plant, miracle leaf etc. Its common name is donkey ears, palm beach bells and dulcamara.

2. Introduction Bryophyllum is a weed belonging to the plant kingdom. It is different from other plants as it has many buds on the sides of each leaf which grow up to form another plant. It consists of mainly 4 parts:- 1. Notch 2. Shoot 3. Adventitious root 4. Buds

3. " Shrub 50-60 cm high, stem robust, 12 mm diameter below, 7 mm diameter toward the apex, internodes 2-11.5 cm long; leaves decussate,, the leaf-blade ovate- lanceolate, 13.5-16.5 cm long, 47- 55 mm wide, rounded above, leaf margins coarsely roundish - crenate, producing a corymbs 28 cm high, 15 cm broad, pedicels glabrous, 10 mm long. 6. Conditions :- 1) Water Bryophyllum requires only infrequent watering, but should be watered thoroughly each time or else the plant will not attain proper height and will also become less useful.

7. 2) Soil and Temperature Bryophyllum cannot grow in deep soil so if you are growing bryophyllum make sure that the soil is not too deep and the seeds are sown 1 inch beneath the soil. Temperature is not low than 40 degree Fahrenheit or else the Plant will die so it is better to grow it inside.

8. Life Span The lifespan of bryophyllum can be changed by the amount of care it is given. And if it is grown with care then it can survive for more then a 100 years.

9. Uses Leaves used as astringent, antiseptic, and counterirritant against poisonous insect bites. Pounded fresh material is applied as a poultice for a variety of conditions: Sprains, eczema, infections, burns, carbuncle and erysipelas. Leaves, made pliable by hold over fire, are applied to wounds, bruises, boils; also, used as poultice or power in bad ulcers. Leaf juice used for earache and ophthalmia.

10. Bryophyllum does strong anti-tumor promoting activity. Juice is mixed with lard and used for diarrhea, dysentery, cholera, and phthisis. Pounded leaves are applied as poultices to the soles of the feet to stop hemorrhages. Leaves are used as topical in dislocation, ecchymosed, callosities. For asthma, leaves are placed in hot water for 15 minutes, then juice squeezed out of the leaves, and drunk.
