Leonardo Da Vinci His painting, the “Mona Lisa” is the most famous painting in history o Respected for it’s life-like appearance and use of shading o Always appearance to be looking directly at you ●Also painted the “Last Supper” ○ He used linear perspective to give the painting realistic depth.

Italian Renaissance In the end of the 14th century AD a bunch of italian thinkers declared that they were in a new age This was the birth period known as the Renaissance The italians think a new age had happened between the 14th century and the 17th century.

Northern Artistic Renaissance Artists of northern Europe had a different approach in portraying realistic artwork European artists painted illustrations for books and wooden panels for altarpieces The artist, Jan Van Eyck, was one of the first to perfect the technique of oil painting o He could create striking realism in fine details with oil painting o Unlike the italians, he did not use perspective in his paintings ●Albrecht Durer was very affected by the italians way of using perspective ○Took 2 trips to italy to learn about perspective art Jared
