Concrete Dry Quantities examples in class Week 3
2
Dry Mix Quantities – Review Above for 1.0m³ of concrete 3m³ Concrete at 4:2:1 mix. shrinkage, use 1.4m³ dry for 1.0m³ fluid concrete. 4+2+1 = 7 parts total 1.4 x 4 = 0.8m³ 7 1.4 x 2 = 0.4m³ 7 1.4 x 1 = 0.2m³ 7 Therefore for 3.0m³ of concrete 0.8 x 3 = 2.4m³ aggregate 0.4 x 3 = 1.2m³ sand 0.2 x 3 = 0.6m³ cement

Quantities Continued 4.8m³ Concrete at 5:2:1 mix. shrinkage, use 1.4m³ dry for 1.0m³ fluid concrete. 5+2+1 = 8 parts total 1.4 x 5 = 0.875m³ 8 1.4 x 2 = 0.350m³ 8 1.4 x 1 = 0.175m³ 8 Therefore for 3.0m³ of concrete 0.875 x 4.8 = 4.2m³ aggregate 0.350 x 4.8 = 1.680m³ sand 0.175 x 4.8 = 0.840m³ cement Above for 1.0m³ of concrete

Quantities Continued 2.5m³ Concrete at 4:2:1 mix. shrinkage, use 1.4m³ dry for 1.0m³ fluid concrete. 4+2+1 = 7 parts total 1.4 x 4 = 0.8m³ 7 1.4 x 2 = 0.4m³ 7 1.4 x 1 = 0.2m³ 7 Therefore for 2.5m³ of concrete 0.8 x 2.5 = 2.0m³ aggregate 0.4 x 2.5 = 1.0m³ sand 0.2 x 2.5 = 0.5m³ cement Above for 1.0m³ of concrete
